I am glad I'm not the only one who was moved to poetry by this game, I am a pretty diverse gamer, and usually I don't like first person games, but this one hit a nerve. Some of the levels were almost like flying, and when I really got going I was visualizing how much fun it would be to actually be able to do some of the things faith can. Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for reading! I really appreciate people's comments and their own feelings about the game. It's interesting to have someone who's done a bit of free running comment on the game too, particularly when you talk about the puzzling in the game.

Glad you enjoyed the blog! I'm hoping to write a retrospective on the whole game to finish the site off in a month's time or so.

I hope the developers will not listen to people who want an "open world" or a "simpler" combat system. First, I thought the combat system and the difficulty level were just right on; the balance was just right, it made me try again and again in some places, but at the same time permitted to make me feel as a hero.

Also, I hope the open world won't be implemented. People want an open world and they say they don't understand how a game about free running was so linear. But Mirror's Edge isn't 'about' free running...free running (more correctly, parkour), was the mean of displacement for the main character, but that doesn't make the game ABOUT parkour. So the linearity of the game felt very right. An open world game would not fit Mirror's Edge world; it would not fit its purpose, its developers' purpose. It would just not be Mirror's Edge anymore. Anyway I hope they don't put the open world.

And thanks for your posts, I never knew someone could feel such things about something...I never knew someone could be so sensible about the subtleties, the details, and the feelings and emotions of something. Except for certain video game characters, movie and other fictional characters, I thought I was the only one to be touched by such things. Such things seem to be invisible, non existent to others.

You know what melts my heart? It's that I perceive Faith as being a fragile individual; a weak person with abilities. I see her as being a person that's been thrown into a world where she doesn't belong; the unfairness and injustice and the harm that's been done to her during the game is characterized by the fact that it seems like the whole world is collapsing on her quickly and she had to react, with all that she has, with all her power and energy she put her all in her mission, out of love. I love the weakness and the strength balance in Faith...and that's how I see her, even if no where in the game or the story do I get a direct and clear clue about this.

You're absolutely right about the green area combat sequence where Faith gets out the truck and booms in on the unsuspecting guards. It certainly feels like she's there for something, and she's gonna get it. She's not running anymore; she's getting serious; she's there for vengence, for truth. She's overwhelmed by all that's happened lately, now she's there to finish her job. I am pretty sure you understand this feeling, as you're the one who made me realize the importance and the greatness of this specific combat sequence.

Didn't you like the part where you had to find your way up inside that yellow building? It was just puzzle, for me it was magic with the feeling brought by the music playing and I had to think...for me, the thinking part of the game was intricate and beautiful as well.

I find your reviews of Mirror's Edge wonderful because you seem to have been struck by the same things as me and to have felt the same things as me. It's like what you're saying, the things you felt and thought, were coming out of me!

I found a good fan-made brief instrumental to Mirror's Edge..it's someone who made it and I think it fits perfectly to Mirror's Edge. I have a lot of images of dramatic moments of Mirorr's Edge that would fit with this music...so I'd like you to listen to it if you want:

Just like Atlantic, you've made me realize that it's the feeling of "loneliness" and "isolation" that stroke me in Mirror's Edge...you feel as if people were there not long ago, you feel their presence, but there's no one...a deserted city, a deserted game. Faith runs desperately in her lonely life, in the lonely city, to free her sister, out of love.

"But it’s one that is reduced to boredom and mediocrity unless you believe in the game."

--> In fact, how can ANY game be fun if we don't put ourselves in the shoes of the character; if we don't immerse ourselves in the game?"

Those reviewer from EDGE and many other "professional" reviewers should not be permitted to call themselves professional.

You seem to be a lonely person; or a person who feels lonely. If that's the case, I understand you, and I understand why Mirror's Edge left such a mark on you. It left the same on me I think.
